The True Secret of Success

How many of us are navigating through a new norm, one that we never saw coming and would never choose if given a choice? We are living in unprecedented times. Tragedy is surrounding us, the unknown is definitive, and our reality has forced us to alter the way we live. There is no better time to change the narrative! Whether it be strengthening your self image, expanding your mind, moving your body, or re-evaluating your relationships, this is a time to explore self-realization. Maybe the change is something as drastic as creating a new direction in life or as simple as building new routines. The point is that we are adapting every day. This new reality is teaching us to think outside the box in all aspects of our lives, beginning with ourselves. We never imagined we would be here. What can we do about it?

When it comes to fitness, the best thing you can do for yourself is to just start. If you wait for the right time, for the perfect space, for the privacy, the equipment, etc. then you will always be waiting. Why wait? If you wait for the “right” time or the perfect motivation, you will be waiting for the rest of your life. We all need to start somewhere, right? Just like with anything in life, the start is the challenge and the outcome of that first step is the benefit… and oh, what a benefit it is!

Every day we start without even thinking about it. We’ve developed a routine, a consistency we depend on to succeed through life’s obstacles. We wake up, get out of bed, brush our teeth, and tackle a new day. We are starting to navigate in this new norm of working from home, online learning for our children, virtual hangouts with our friends, and probably way more time with our significant others than we ever dreamed of spending. Everyday we “start,” we grow. Whether we are entering new territory or finding familiarity with each day in our routine, we have taken the steps to start. 

How can we apply this to fitness? Use this time as an opportunity to START! Starting opens the door to possibilities. The possibility of implementing new routines, creating consistency , and enjoying success. In fact, possibility leads to growth and growth leads to success… because the true secret of success is getting started. How are you going to start moving your body today?
